I saw this film not to long ago and was quite impressed. Then again, it is rare for me NOT to enjoy a courtroom drama film. This is not an allegorical tale, or an analogy...this is straight up court case story about a down-and-out lawyer looking for answers and desperatly trying to win one last case so he can retire. As he digs deeper there seems to be something he's missing, something that doesn't quite add up about the whole thing. While not an action film, there is a nice twist-ending to the story that adds a bit of spark to the storyline. This is one worth checking into!
SYNOPSIS
After the horrific death of his wife and two sons, suicide seems to be the only escape for small town attorney Mac McClain... until he's assigned a capital punishment case that begins to transform his life and those around him forever.
I posted about this film earlier when it was entering theaters, and now it is out on DVD!
ReelCast Review:
After his son's death, embittered police officer Mac McDonald loses faith in God and himself, but his new partner, part-time pastor Sam Wright, offers him friendship and sets him on the path to grace and redemption in this stirring Christian drama.
Heads up to anyone out there looking for Christian films worth watching! This film has good lead actors, fun scenes, tough moments, plot-twists and a powerful message of Grace! It is a bit intense a few times so caution is recommended for younger viewers. For being a church's first film, I was very impressed!
It does have a few weak side characters, a few scenes that could have been scripted a little better, and a few too many "fades-to-black," but the drama, action and redemption are top-notch! This a film that I will be keeping on my shelf to watch again! ...and to all you film makers, it is worth buying the DVD just for the Behind-the-Scenes featurette ;)

When Evans, a ten-year-old unwanted child, enters his home, Aaron's life is permanently transformed. Believing they have much to offer, Aaron and his wife, Stacy, chose to use their family and stable home as a platform to reach out to children in need through foster care. However, this undertaking was not as simple as they had anticipated. Evans is their first placement. Abandoned as an infant and tossed from home to home, he is a boy with no hope of ever being wanted. Aaron and Stacy often find themselves wondering about the outcome of their ambitious undertaking. The coping behaviors Evans has developed as a result of his past make him extremely challenging. Tantrums, mysterious disappearances, food fights, and impenetrable silence become a new part of their everyday life. Aaron is shaken by his lack of control. Stacy is crushed by the rejection of her affection. Their daughter, Jennie, is resentful of the chaos now ruling her life. As each new obstacle surrounds their family, they are dragged continually closer to the breaking point. Their future is fraught with questions. Can they continue? Will Evans ever understand? Will they be able to entrust themselves wholeheartedly to the hands of God? Is it possible to love the unlovable. . . is he really beyond acceptance?
For the past month and a half I have been traveling around the country with Colin Gunn (Gunn Productions) and Phillip Telfer (Media Talk 101) working on their upcoming documentary, "Captivated." - CaptivatedTheMovie.com
Here are a few still images from some of the footage we have captured for the documentary! There isn't a trailer out yet, so this will have to tide you over ;)
Burns Family Studios has begun work on their next Christian feature film titled, Beyond the Mask! Check out this exciting Pre-Production trailer!
Synopsis
This story is an action-fused historic adventure, set in the international turmoil of the mid 1770's. Running for his life, an East India Company assassin buried his past in a quiet English village, assuming the mantle of an Anglican priest. But this disguise won't last for long when a woman he loves and a war he no longer wants force him to confront the question of who he really is. In the face of a looming global conflict, he discovers for himself the meaning and source of true justification and freedom.
Right now they need a little help raising some funds to build a major set for the project, and you can help by donating just $20!
Check out this promo video to see concept art, set locations, and find out more about the film!
About the Campaign
Right now, we are asking you to consider joining our team by voting for Beyond the Mask with a $20 donation. Through this Kickstarter campaign, we are planning to raise funding to purchase the materials we can’t scavenge for Beyond the Masks’ most important set – a full-scale, live-action 18th century cityscape. But, more importantly, through this campaign we are hoping to find a thousand voices to join with ours as we approach investors (the ‘men in hats’) about making a project like this come to life. By donating $20, you are voting for this project, saying, "Count me in. I’ll help spread the word; I want to see this become a reality." This is the kind of thing the ‘men in hats’ need to see: there are over a thousand people who are excited about the project and are willing to lend a hand.
Recently I got to interview Ray Comfort as part of the Captivated documentary I have been working on! (our film crew shows up in this video around 2:05)
While at Living Waters we got to see the full version of a new project they will be releasing later this year.
