Twas The Week Before Christmas

An unexpected discovery leads a young boy to set out to honor the true King of Christmas! But will he be able to raise enough money, and will he find what he is looking for? A heart-warming short film about the true reason to celebrate Christmas!

This is a short film that I made with my family back in 2006-2007! Enjoy!!

Creation Proclaims

In June I had the privilege to produce and direct the filming of the next Creation Proclaims series with Dr. Jobe Martin and his family. I was able to take a crew of five crew members with me to California where we were filming at an animal sanctuary with the Martins and Dan Breeding. It was a growing and stretching experience in many ways, but God was very good to us and answered many prayers during the week!

We used two Canon C-100s along with my Canon 60D as a 3rd cam for animal close-ups. Alex Lerma, Andrew Garcia, and Micah Austin did a fantastic job as the camera ops.

We rented a small lighting package from a local company for the project. I was super excited to have Philip Bolzeman as the Gaffer/Grip along with Micah Austin who pulled double duty between grip and cam op.

Joseph Santoyo was our on-set sound man, and did a great job even amids the squawking birds, howling coyotes, and planes/helicopters flying around!

Due to the heat and wind in the afternoons and staying ahead of schedule, we were only filmed in the mornings after the first day. On one free afternoon we were able to take advantage of being on the west coast and took a trip to the Cayucos beach! However it was rather windy and the water was super cold...but we had a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon!

We also had some seafood at a local restaurant which had been recommended by some friends.

It was indeed incredible!

During the week we also had some fun with Lemurs!

Here are a few still images from the footage we captured!

When the videos are released DVDs will be available at the Creation Proclaims website. They also have other resources and episodes already in the series.

Serve India Ministries

This summer I had the opportunity to oversee the post-production of a series of web videos for Serve India Ministries. We had a team of 9 people (plus siblings) all working together in one location for a week to finish 7 videos. To start the week we all worked on editing and for the last coupld of days a few of the team members transitioned over to sound, color correction, music, and motion graphics. It was a great time of film-making, fun, food, and fellowship!

Check out the trailer for the series and visit the website to see all the videos!

The people of India sit in darkness. They face incredible difficulties – socially, physically, and economically. No matter the difficulty, the Gospel is the answer. When the Gospel comes to these people, it truly changes everything.

Roses - Rachel Hendrix & Gregory Alan Williams

Just 2 months ago we took a step of faith and launched a Kickstarter campaign trusting that God would meet our needs. We had no idea where our journey would lead and every week we continue to be amazed by the doors that God opens.

It’s my distinct pleasure to announce the lead actors for our film.

Rachel Hendrix as “Jessica Harper”

Many of you watched “October Baby” when it arrived in nationwide theaters last year and remember Rachel’s stellar performance. We can’t wait to see Rachel fully develop her character of recently blinded “Jessica”.

Gregory Alan Williams as “Kevin Rodgers”

For 25 years, Gregory has brought his talents to screens across the globe. One of his most memorable roles was as a football coach alongside Denzel Washington in “Remember the Titans”. We’re excited about the experience and gravitas that Gregory will bring to “Kevin”.

Want to Help?

1. We Need Food

Apart from everything that goes into making a film (scripts, cast, crew, equipment, etc.) there are still a few basic items. Namely, food.

We’re looking for people who would like to sponsor a meal or snacks for our project. If you like to cook and would like to support Roses, this is the opportunity for you! You might even meet some of the cast and crew and see a little of the set too.

Participation could be as involved as cooking and serving a meal for 35 people, or as simple as dropping off a batch of cookies.

What

Provide a meal or snacks for the cast and crew of Roses on October 8th, 9th or 10th. Here are some ideas:

  • An entire meal
  • A dessert
  • Pre-packaged snacks (granola bars, fruit snacks, crackers, etc.)
  • Your favorite homemade snack
  • A veggie or fruit tray
  • If you have something else in mind you’d like to share then let us know!

Where

  • Food can be dropped off at the catering base in the New Sweden area.
  • You can bring the food to the shooting locations in Manor or Austin.
  • We may be able to pick up the food from you.

How

If you’d like to help with a meal or snacks then send an email to catering@rosesmovie.com.

2. We Need an RV

Ideally, we’re looking for an RV that our actors can use as a green room for 1 or more days. Usage would be minimal and would primarily just be a place where the actors could get out of the heat between takes.

If you have an RV that would be suitable or know someone that does then just email me at paul@rosesmovie.com.

Almost There!

Only 7 days away from filming… wow! Please continue praying for us as we enter the final stretch. Please especially pray that our team would bond and that we would have energy and wisdom.
