"Awakened" - The Documentary

Another project that I have been heavily involved with this year is the upcoming feature length documentary, Awakened! Even though the intended audience is young ladies ages 11-16, I believe this film has a timely and relevant message for everyone!

Filming is almost done, and editing and other post productions is under way.

Synopsis

"In today’s culture young girls are besieged with distorted views of love from movie theaters, laptops and even Christian bookstores. We are easily awakened to impassioned desires during the most potentially fruitful years of our lives.

Is it normal to be mentally engulfed in a saga of boys, crushes, and romantic daydreams that are presented as being inseparable from young adulthood? How do we handle infatuations, and God-given longings for marriage?

The world beckons us to follow our hearts; God commands us to guard them, but how?

Awakened follows the joy seen by generations of women who are disciplining their hearts and minds and the steadfast men who lead and encourage them to enjoy the intimacy Christ wishes for every young lady."

Interviews include:

- Mally Family
- Kathleen & Rebekah Bueche
- Dr. Jobe Martin Family
- Nathan Clark George
- Phillip Telfer & daughter Elizabeth
- Kevin Swanson & daughter Emily
- Scott Brown
- Ray Comfort
- Eric and Leslie Ludy
- Heather Patenaude
...and many more!!

Beyond the Mask -  Composer

Award-winning composer Jurgen Beck was born in Germany in 1962, and began his musical journey early in life. His passion for music grew though training on the trumpet (Fluegelhorn), guitar, piano, and bass.

Growing up a country know for its legendary composers, Jurgen’s love for music found further expression though writing songs and lyrics for his band, which eventually resulted in a recording contract and concert tours. When Jurgen moved to Dallas, Texas in 1987 to continue his music studies at a Christian college, he began producing music for independent artists, developing his skills in music arrangement, recording, mixing, and mastering.

In 2008, Jurgen’s love for film music resulted in a natural transition from writing and producing music to writing for film. To prepare him for the unique challenges of film scoring, Jurgen studied composition and orchestration with internationally renowned composers Leon Willett and Stephen Hill. Since then, he has composed the score for over a dozen documentaries, TV episodes, shorts, and feature films.

Jurgen, his wife Shawn, their daughter Arianna, and their dogs, Molly and Gracie, reside in the city of Midlothian in northern Texas. Please join us in welcoming them to the Beyond the Mask team! You can check out some of Jurgen’s earlier work here.

WWII Video Contest

Did your relatives serve in World War II?  Did you know that there are 1.2 million WWII veterans still living?  However, time is running out to hear their stories of bravery and sacrifice that help define our country.  The iHistory WW2 video contest is a national competition to inspire teen filmmakers to capture these stories on film.

Starting August 19, 2013, aspiring young American filmmakers (ages 13-18) will have the opportunity to hear these stories firsthand, make a mini-documentary, and have the chance to win coveted prizes for themselves and their school. The total value of combined prizes is over $11,000.  We’re also working in cooperation with the Library of Congress to preserve the interviews in their archives.

View our flyer (Click Here) and share it with teachers and students.

Kickstarter - "Roses"

I've heard the entire story for this project, and I'm very excited about it!!

Roses is a short film that tells the story of Jessica, a young girl who has recently become blind through a freak accident, and her struggle to deal with the emotions and shock that come with such a traumatic change in her life. Through what seems like a chance encounter on a bus, Jessica meets Kevin, an African American gentlemen from a previous generation who carries a shocking and unexpected secret of his own. Together, they face difficult questions and forgotten memories, and ultimately, Kevin must face the shadows of his past so that Jessica may embrace her future.

Roses deals with the timeless truths of forgiveness, redemption, and faith. Our prayer is that God can use this film to touch the lives of many people struggling with their own "insufficiencies".

Henline Productions - "Polycarp"

I am currently working as the camera operator on an upcoming historical feature film Polycarp!

"The full-length feature film, inspired by the research and writings of Rick Lambert, will depict the story of second century church father, Polycarp, the bishop of Smyrna, who faced severe persecution at the hand of Roman oppressors. Joe and Jerica's father and also the film's executive producer, Jerry Henline, says, “We are seeking to use the medium of film to inspire today's generation to stand for their faith against all opposition.”"

"We are excited about the headway being made here in Loveland, Ohio, and we look forward to keeping you updated throughout the months ahead. Please keep the team in your prayers!"

(if you look hard you can see me)

Kickstarter - Lego Movie "Bound"

This is an exciting project that I've been able to help with a little bit, and I encourage you to check it out!!

Bound is a Christian stop-motion adventure story that takes place in a world created entirely from plastic bricks.

It has a Christian message, lovely visuals, and a diverse assortment of characters. It's an adventure film about two kids and an old man who risk everything to trek the medieval wilderness in search of their older brother.

We're trying to finish our animated family friendly adventure film. Since we're Christians, it has a Gospel message. That's important to us. What's more, we'd like to finish our film in the next 9-10 months, but we need funds to do that.

To see more clips and images, and to help make this project possible,

Unstoppable Movie

Kirk Cameron returns to movie theaters September 24 with the follow-up to his record-breaking, one-night theatrical event, Monumental. In UNSTOPPABLE, a brand-new documentary, Kirk takes you on a personal and inspiring journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raiser in faith: Why? Kirk goes back to the beginning—literally—as he investigates the origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives … and our eternities. Reminding us that there is great hope, UNSTOPPABLE creatively asks—and answers—the age-old question: Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?
