"The Song" Casting Call

Information used from Richard Ramsey's Blog

City on a Hill is excited about production for the Ministry's first feature film. Inspired by the life and works of King Solomon, The Song tells the story of a young, aspiring singer-songwriter whose marriage and life suffer when the song he writes for his wife propels him to stardom.

The script for the feature portion of "The Song" is done. But, several months ago, the story was a series of scattered scribbles on whiteboards and notecards. Here's a glimpse of where were were in February. Looking back, it's interesting to see how the process changes things and which ideas make it in and which ones don't.  And, which ideas couldn't have been anticipated and simply materialize during the actual writing process.

If you are interested in auditioning for the film, check out this next video!

The Life Project

City On A Hill Productions is producing a film series created to persuade women with unplanned pregnancies to carry their babies to term. They are shooting on the Canon 5D.

"In order to maximize the effectiveness and usefulness of "The Life Project," we were advised by various women's resource centers to triple cast our story. So, last week we filmed essentially the same story with three different principal casts: white, African-American, and Latino/Spanish-speaking.

While I was excited by the prospect of working with three different casts, I must admit that, at first, I faintly wondered, in the back of my mind, if filming the same scenes three times would be monotonous drudgery. It was not at all! It was an incredible experience to watch these wonderful actors bring their own gifts and insights into the scenes."

Richard Ramsey update

Richard Ramsey (director of The Oath) is now working at City On A Hill Productions. He recently posted a video that he produced about "Economic Opportunities."
"Economic Opportunities exists to teach God's work ethic to high-risk men in order for them to know Christ more intimately, to become contributing members of the workforce, and to gain hope in a future."
I found the video to be very impacting and touching. You can watch the video on Richard's blog.

Aletheia Stage & Film

Many of you know of Richard Ramsey from the SAICFF in '06. His film "The Oath of Desormeau" won 'Best of Festival' that year. He has also been producing short comedy videos with his brother John (and a few friends.)

The time has come for another big moment in the Ramsey family's life. They will be moving to Kentucky where he will join the staff at "City on a Hill Productions" as a full-time filmmaker.

Congratulations to Richard and I'll be excited to see his future productions! Read the full article on his blog.

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

Richard Ramsey has a really good blog post up about a guy named Bobby Henderson who founded The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster to protest the Kansas State Board of Education's decision requiring schools to give Intelligent Design Theory representation along with Evolutionary Theory. Henderson wrote an open letter to the education board sarcastically asserting that the "Pastafarian" belief that a Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe should also receive equal representation in the classroom.

How would you respond to that? Read Richards rebuttal here.
