"The Song" Casting Call

Information used from Richard Ramsey's Blog

City on a Hill is excited about production for the Ministry's first feature film. Inspired by the life and works of King Solomon, The Song tells the story of a young, aspiring singer-songwriter whose marriage and life suffer when the song he writes for his wife propels him to stardom.

The script for the feature portion of "The Song" is done. But, several months ago, the story was a series of scattered scribbles on whiteboards and notecards. Here's a glimpse of where were were in February. Looking back, it's interesting to see how the process changes things and which ideas make it in and which ones don't.  And, which ideas couldn't have been anticipated and simply materialize during the actual writing process.

If you are interested in auditioning for the film, check out this next video!

Free "not a fan." Episode Now Online

fan: an enthusiastic admirer.

Are there moments in your life where you feel like you are just blending in?
Are you just part of the audience?

Are there times when you wish you could really engage in your life?
Maybe you want to really take a stand for something.

Maybe what you really need is to be a follower and not a fan.

Maybe it’s time to do something.

Show the world that you are a follower and not a fan. In the Gospels Jesus never seemed too interested in fans.  He was looking for followers. Not just any follower though…

completely. committed. follower.

Not a Fan is a six week small group discipleship study comprised of six 30min lessons of cinematic story telling.

You can watch the 5th episode for free HERE.

The Life Project

City On A Hill Productions is producing a film series created to persuade women with unplanned pregnancies to carry their babies to term. They are shooting on the Canon 5D.

"In order to maximize the effectiveness and usefulness of "The Life Project," we were advised by various women's resource centers to triple cast our story. So, last week we filmed essentially the same story with three different principal casts: white, African-American, and Latino/Spanish-speaking.

While I was excited by the prospect of working with three different casts, I must admit that, at first, I faintly wondered, in the back of my mind, if filming the same scenes three times would be monotonous drudgery. It was not at all! It was an incredible experience to watch these wonderful actors bring their own gifts and insights into the scenes."

The Life Project

City On A Hill Productions is focusing on a pro-life series.

The Problem

  • There are more than 1 million abortions annually in the U.S.
  • Every year more than 46 million babies are aborted worldwide.
  • Russia commits 4 million abortions per year.
  • 75% of Romania's pregnancies end in abortion.
  • One out of every four pregnancies ends in abortion.
  • 64 countries have declining populations.
  • Videos used in crisis pregnancy centers are outdated and less effective.

The Solution

Working with Focus on the Family, Care-Net, Heartbeat, and Life International, City on a Hill Productions will distribute quality video kits to pregnancy centers worldwide.

Not A Fan - BTS

City on a Hill Productions is working on new series entitled, "not a fan." You can watch an intro video to the series here.

"How would things change if you lived as Jesus lived and loved the way He loved? Maybe you're ready to join the hundreds of people who have stepped across a line and said, “I am not a fan.”"
Richard Ramsey has been posting updates and BTS pictures on his blog, you can also see some BTS videos on the City on a Hill vimeo page. They have some neat pictures and videos, and you might recognize a couple of people from "The Oath of Desormeau!"

Richard Ramsey update

Richard Ramsey (director of The Oath) is now working at City On A Hill Productions. He recently posted a video that he produced about "Economic Opportunities."
"Economic Opportunities exists to teach God's work ethic to high-risk men in order for them to know Christ more intimately, to become contributing members of the workforce, and to gain hope in a future."
I found the video to be very impacting and touching. You can watch the video on Richard's blog.

Aletheia Stage & Film

Many of you know of Richard Ramsey from the SAICFF in '06. His film "The Oath of Desormeau" won 'Best of Festival' that year. He has also been producing short comedy videos with his brother John (and a few friends.)

The time has come for another big moment in the Ramsey family's life. They will be moving to Kentucky where he will join the staff at "City on a Hill Productions" as a full-time filmmaker.

Congratulations to Richard and I'll be excited to see his future productions! Read the full article on his blog.
